Green Tortoise
Cross Country Eastbound
August 9 - 19, 2000

Days 1 - 2

10 days...
31 strangers...
2 drivers...
3000 miles...
1 bus built in 1954...

This was, by far, the craziest thing I had ever done.

Looking towards the back of the bus.

The adventure began Wednesday, August 9th, 2000. We boarded the bus at about 10 pm, and drove until 6:30 am, waking up at Gulch Lake in Nevada for breakfast.

Gulch Lake - Day 2

The bus by Gulch Lake. Food for the trip is stored on the roof.

Our drivers, Sue and Laticia. Julia (from Germany) is standing on the ladder.

Many of us swam... The water was a tad cold, though.

We drove to Winnemucca, Nevada to do some shopping and grab lunch. Then we drove to the east end of Nevada and had a picnic dinner and a swim at a hotspring. Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera.

Arne (from Germany), myself, and Roz (from New York) hanging out in the back of the bus.

We woke up on August 11 at the Fontanelle Reservoir for breakfast (in Wyoming).
